Boost Mobile is Sprint's attempt to rebuild their investment in the Nextel IDEN network.

The Nextel IDEN network is a digital 2-way radio network using Motorola IDEN technology that allows 2 way radio communications, low speed data services and cellular services on a digital network.

Sprint has decided to load up this IDEN network with Boost Customers.

In the meantime, this presents an opportunity for wireless users looking for an all you can eat, wireless offering that costs only $50 per month.  It is our expectation that once spun off, Boost Mobile most likely will pull back on this offer for new customers.  The NEXTEL Network is an expensive network to maintain and it is not designed for users who spend 2500+ minutes per month on average and only pay $50.  Eventually, once they hit the 17-20 million user mark, it is our opinion that the network will once again need reinvestment to handle the additional usage.
